Bill & Melinda Gates: Were they a match made for eternity, or finite ???

The business community, the philanthropic world & the charities they support all seemed to be shocked by the news that Melinda and Bill Gates were divorcing after 27 years of marriage…really???

We all know the story of when Bill met Melinda… much has been written.

Yes, they are incredibly wealthy; Bill the founder of Microsoft.  Melinda, a brilliant woman, was a Product Manager at Microsoft.  She married Bill and as many women do, left her Microsoft job to raise their family. 

Melinda and Bill enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. This story gives a peek into their minds and the difference in how they approach problems. Their first puzzle was 1200 pieces; Bill opened the box spilling the 1200 pieces out and started on the puzzle. Melinda didn’t know that when Bill said they should do a puzzle, he meant that he wasn’t done until the puzzle was complete. After many hours she had to convince him to stop and come back to it.

Melinda learned quickly. They would do 600 piece puzzles finishing in an evening. Asked to describe Bill’s mind she laughed, saying it was chaos…and somehow out of chaos came his brilliance. Her mind is much more orderly.

Melinda, how long can order try to live with chaos???

Together they founded the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Their mission began with a shared belief that every life has equal value, and a desire to help people all over the world. 

Melinda ran the foundation herself, until Bill decided to leave Microsoft to “share” running the foundation. She claims she was excited that Bill was going to work at the foundation. We as women can picture that smile/smirk/what to do look…Really???

Bill and Melinda started their own projects.  Bill, Gates Ventures in 2008 to focus on clean energy. Melinda, Pivotal Ventures in 2015.“““““““““““““““““““““““`

Melinda’s focused/purposeful interest was the empowerment of women. Interesting that she knew how important it is to Pivot…way before it became part of the in vogue term “pandemic pivot”.

There are so many articles about their lives, let’s not take any more space discussing it here.

We, as DearWiseWomen.com, like to analyze relationships from the standpoint of our “Cards”…since we know the answers can be found there.

About Melinda

Melinda French Gates, a Leo, has a double Jack of Clubs as her birthday cards. The Jack of Clubs is extremely creative, typically very smart, and excels in both mental and financial fields. Being a double Jack of Clubs makes her “super charged”, with a very powerful mind.

This isn’t surprising, I have no doubt that Bill would only settle down with a woman who could match wits with him.

Melinda also has a third card, the Two of Clubs, giving her the natural ability to be a stimulating conversationalist in both social and business settings. I’ve read stories about Bill and Melinda’s arguments, that’s the Two of Clubs in action…

I think Melinda won her fair share of those arguments, or the wins she deemed worthy/important.

Her first karma card, the Jack of Diamonds, indicates her connection with a business person (Bill), and that she is here to help with his business.  Her second karma card, the Ten of Hearts means she is successful with groups of people, either with family or in business…sounds right to me.

About Bill

Bill Gates’s Birth Card is the Seven of Hearts, the spiritual love card. His Ruling Planet cards are the Jack of Hearts, the card of sacrifice and the King of Diamonds, the successful business person.

Thinking about these cards as a whole, I see a person who cares about humanity, someone with a deep desire to make a difference. Bill also has the most successful business card, giving him the financial means to finance his causes. 

Bill’s karma cards are interesting. The first karma card, the Eight of Hearts is the emotional power card. In this position, it tells me that he feels the need to control his relationships, not letting anyone else take control…What effect did that have on Melinda???

Bill’s Second karma card is the Ace of Spades, the card of ambition and secrets. We all know he is ambitious…we can speculate whether he has secrets.

What does this all mean regarding the relationship of Melinda and Bill.

We think they were very compatible when they met and married. Melinda needed time to grow into her own person, we know that over time she did just that.

While Bill was working his magic in the tech world, Melinda spent time raising her children and running their foundation. She traveled the world without Bill, making her personal mission to help women in poor and underdeveloped nations. 

Despite being a practicing Catholic she learned from meeting these women face to face how important contraception was to them.  She found that when it came to their children and families, women all over the world had similar dreams and goals, wanting the best for them.

Hoping someone would take up their cause she ultimately found that she had to step up and take up the cause herself.

Melinda had a hard time finding her voice, especially when she shared the stage with Bill. However, the cards tell us that she had both the brains and ability to rise to her full potential…what effect did that have on their marriage???

We think the answer is their divorce. It is possible, maybe likely that Bill didn’t want to share the stage as equals…wanting to have control over their relationship…just a theory…

Is this the beginning of #MelindaBillGate ???
