July 29 Today’s Birth card is the Queen of Hearts, the Loving Mother card…

Queens are powerful people with the inherent wisdom of their counterparts, the Kings.

Queens are very capable of ruling their kingdoms, however they are more compassionate thanks to their service-oriented personalities. They are blessed with the wisdom that is learned from past experiences as they evolved to their Queen stature.

Queens in general are motherly in nature, whether they are male or female. They are nurturing people and do well as teachers, counselors, performers or anything that has to do with the public. Some give so much to their career that they don’t have any children. The Queen of Hearts is the only card in the deck that has a double Neptune influence, which is significant. Neptune can inspire them to do great things in the world; however it can also make their personal life complicated.

It can be hard for a Queen of Hearts to be happy in their personal relationships, since they spend so much time helping others. Their own needs are often not met while making sure everyone they love is taken care of. They can become “martyrs” in their personal relationships while doing great in their profession.

Those who live on the low side can end up lazy, overly self-indulgent, frivolous and more interested in the “good life”. They can also misuse their power if they let the power go to their head. They can be co-dependents, escapists and alcoholics; however once they set their sights on their careers, and renounce complacency, there is no limit to how high they can climb in their work and career.

It’s up to each of them to live on the high side of this card and flourish.

Looking for famous birthday’s today I expected to find people who epitomized the parent, teacher, politician; anyone who gave to the community. And it’s a Leo Queen of Hearts which made me expect even more from them.

I wasn’t surprised that there were not too many famous people born today; after all, it’s a lot to expect from someone; especially as a Leo.

Those living on the high side of the card make sense to me. #TimGunn, famous from Project Runway, is the mentor to all the aspiring designers. Watching him over the years, it doesn’t surprise me that he is a Queen of Hearts. His love for everyone he mentors is evident and you can tell he is a nurturer.

#PeterJennings, the Canadian-American TV journalist, was the sole anchor to ABC World News Tonight, from 1983 until his death from lung cancer in 2005. We remember him as a great TV anchor, and I could list all his accomplishments. However I rather tell you about a quote I found from him. He was reflecting on his academic struggle in high school…surmising that “it was out of pure boredom that he failed 10th grade and dropped out of school. He loved girls and comic books, and for reasons he didn’t understand, he is was pretty lazy”. He lasted about “10 minutes” at Carleton University and dropped out. He then went on to become a great success, once he overcame the lazy trait of the Queen of Hearts. He might not have understood why he was lazy, but I do…as always, it was in the cards.

#KenBurns, the Award Winning American Filmmaker, is known for his unique style of using archival footage and photographs in documentary films. His widely known documentary series include The Civil War (1990), Baseball (1994), Jazz (2001), The War (2007), Prohibition (2011), The Roosevelt’s (2014), The Vietnam War (2017), and Country Music (2019). His latest documentary on Mohammed Ali will be released this coming September 2021.

Burns was born in Brooklyn, New York to an academic family, who moved often in his early years. Tragically his mother passed away from breast cancer when he was 11 years old…he reflected that her death helped shape his career. His father-in-law, a psychologist, gave him great insight…telling Burns that his whole life’s work was an attempt to make people long gone come back to life. As a child he absorbed the family encyclopedia, preferring history to fiction.

Burns was asked if he would ever make a film about his mother, Lyla. His response…”All of my films are about her. I don’t think I could do it directly, because of how intensely painful it is.” It’s so sad that after 57 years he still feels the pain of the 11 year old boy who lost his mom…we are all honored to be able to enjoy his creative documentaries, may he have many more years to create his masterpieces.

Reporting the news, filming the news and how we dress… fashion…

Happy Birthday to all born today. Spend your day wisely; it sets the tone for your year.
