The Stones…In or Out of Sync???

Bill Wyman

Bill Wyman became the bass player for the Stones…1962 until 1993…he played bass on our favorite Stones songs. Despite being an original member of the Stones, Wyman chose to leave the band…he didn’t want to deal with the pressure of being in the Stones.

Apparently Wyman’s crystal ball wasn’t working…according to him ”The big money wasn’t there yet. I had a small nest egg and I can live nicely but I can’t rely on Stones royalties to support me. I’m not in the same league as the boys who stayed on. But I wanted to have fun.” Oops!!!

Wyman has so many interests that he has done well on his own. He is an author with seven published books. He is also a photographer with his work displayed in galleries world-wide.

Bill Wyman’s Birthday cards are very similar to Keith Richards cards, but less powerful. Bill wasn’t flamboyant like Mick and Keith and it seems likely that he needed to walk away when he did…in order for him to thrive he needed out of the pressure cooker. It looks like he would be In Sync…but looks can be deceiving…Mick and Keith were too strong a partnership for Wyman to flourish…

Fun Fact: Wyman was the first bass player of a modern fretless bass guitar. He created his own fretless electric bass guitar by removing the frets on his own instrument in 1961.
