Many people would say Betty White lived a wonderful life…a blessed life in the truest meaning of the word. So it is little surprise what Betty White’s cards were.
Betty White always had great timing…and timing is everything…whether it be comedy, music, love, finances, work…in every aspect of our lives.
On New Years Eve we sadly said goodbye to Betty White who almost made it to her 100th birthday on January 17, 2022. Her smiling face graced the cover of People magazine with the headline of ”Betty White Turns 100”…2021 was a hard year and leave it to Betty White to pass in its final hours….not having her passing mar the promise of a kinder 2022.
Allow me a brief segue…I assure you that you will understand the reason….
True story about my first day in Nashville as a transplanted New Yorker. We found a State Farm agent to handle all our insurance…a necessity since we purchased a home in Nashville. I’ll never forget the lessons learned that day… in the south ”you guys” had to change to y’all….or all y’all…. ’bless your heart’ is often not a blessing…in fact it’s complicated…It’s all about tone…just like timing…tone is everything…
Many of our “What’s Your Birthday” club members have heard me talk about tone…especially when I’m speaking to people with Royal Birthday cards. As a King of Clubs I am aware that my ‘tone’ can often be misunderstood…giving me other challenges to overcome. Most women with King cards have similar issues with the men in their lives…they have strong personalities and need to find the best tone to use in the different situations we face.
Betty was considered by many to be one of the greatest ‘comic tacticians’ in television history. She played the ‘domestic goddess’ Sue Ann Niven in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the clueless naive Rose Nylund in Golden Girls…both roles similar in that the humor in her scenes was her reactions to the jokes aimed at her…Sue Ann & Rose might be clueless…but Betty knew what she was doing and she brought her sunny disposition and comedy into our homes for 80 years…unbelievable!!!
As a mature woman she remained relevant…she always said what she was thinking…but in
polite and direct tones.
It's always in the cards...
