Jerry Garcia’s Birth card is the Queen of Diamonds, the Philanthropist card.

All Queens are as powerful cards as the King in their suit…in some ways more powerful.

With this power comes the responsibility to use it in a positive way…not to be abusive.
The Queens rule with more compassion than Kings, using their wisdom as a guide. They are also more nurturing than the Kings…oftentimes mothering those they work with.

The Queen of Diamonds, whether male or female, is charming and very accomplished. They are blessed with a sharp, critical mind that enables them to see through others that attempt to deceive them. The Queen of Diamonds enjoys the “good life” and knows the value of things; they are the collectors of money and relationships. They are leaders, having innate business sense as well as being very creative.

The Queen of Diamonds has three 3’s in their life path.

The first is the Three of Diamonds, their first Karma card. This signifies their basic uncertainty about life…always feeling that they aren’t getting “enough”, which motivates them to create multiple relationships.

The second three is the Three of Clubs in Venus, the third is the Three of Spades in Mars. Venus and Mars are thought of as the personal planets, because the cards that are found there are usually indicative of how someone deals with their personal relationships. Having both the Three of Clubs and Three of Spades we can expect variety in their relationships. If their creativity isn’t channeled, they easily become bored and restless and will make life changes…rather than worrying as the Three personality is prone to do.

There are some negative aspects of the Queen of Diamonds. They must be careful not to be too negative and critical of others. They can have a pessimistic attitude, without realizing it. It is important for the Queen of Diamonds to be positive, to counterbalance their negative tendency.

Those who adopt a spiritual path in life can find themselves rising to great heights; by not worrying about money, the Queen of Diamonds can become some of the wealthiest people. They are also found to have a lot of 3’s in their life, in many areas.

Today is a Leo Queen of Diamonds, so all the traits I’ve described are magnified.

#JerryGarcia was born today. As one of the founders of the Grateful Dead, and certainly the most recognized member, they played as the Grateful Dead for 30 years, while he had many other side projects, we all know him from the Dead.

He had a distinctive guitar playing style and was ranked 13th in Rolling Stones 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time. He had trouble with addictions, mostly heroin and cocaine, and that’s a bad combination with diabetes. He had a rough childhood, losing his father when he was very young.

He was musical and artistic and was encouraged by his art teacher, for his drawing and painting skills. But music was more important to him, and I found it hysterical that for his 15th birthday his mother bought him his first instrument, an ACCORDION. All he wanted was an electric guitar, so thankfully his mother exchanged the accordion for a guitar. His bio is a riot, he had some life… he had to enjoy his ride. It’s hard to figure out how many marriages and children he actually had…it looks like 3 marriages, and 4 daughters.

Jerry Garcia has special meaning to me, more than just loving the Grateful Dead when I was younger. My husband Dave was a fan of Jerry Garcia, and he was shocked when Jerry died in 1995.  He died on 8/9/1995; one Jerry was gone …and on 8/19/1995 he replaced Jerry with Jeri..lol…me, and we have been together ever since. We always joked that I took the place of Jerry Garcia…so much so that he made sure I knew it was Jerry Garcia’s birthday…this morning I got my yearly reminder….I already knew of course.

Other famous birthday’s today start with #FrancisScottKey   He was a lawyer, author and amateur poet who wrote the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner during the war of 1812, after dining aboard a British ship as the guest of 3 British officers. He was there to negotiate the release of prisoners, and was not allowed to return to his own boat because he became familiar with the position of the British units and their intent to attack Baltimore.

So he watched the bombardment of American forces at Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore; and at dawn saw the American Flag still waving.  As an amateur poet, that was all the inspiration he needed to write the lyrics to our National Anthem.

He was an anti-abolitionist, wanting to free slaves and send them back to Africa, so I can’t say he was a great person; but he did give his services freely to help some slaves.

#DomDeLuise, actor, film director and comedian; was the father of 3 sons. He was also the youngest of 3 children. I love to search for 3’s when I talk about the Queen of Diamonds.

#YvesSaintLaurent, fashion designer, was a wonderful example of a Queen of Diamonds.  He was one of three children; and had no children of his own. On my search for 3’s, I see that in 1953 Yves submitted 3 sketches to a contest for young fashion designers; he won first place. He went with his mother to the awards ceremony in Paris, where he met the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine who encouraged him to be a fashion designer. At the age of 21 he was head designer of the House of Dior… and his career catapulted from there.  He was the creator of many fashion trends and became part of the “jet set”.  As an over-indulgent Queen, he did get involved with alcohol and cocaine, but it didn’t hurt his reputation as a fashion Icon. He became philanthropic in his later years. A few days prior to his death, he had a civil union with his longtime partner, never knowing the severity of his illness. He passed away from brain cancer at the age of 71.

#HermanMelville, author of Moby Dick, was the third of eight children in his family. Three weeks after his birth he was baptized at home. During the 1820’s he lived a privileged life, in a household at 33 Bleeker Street. There are so many 3’s appearing in his bio, too many to list. I do have fun looking for the Threes.

Happy Birthday to everyone born today.

Spend your day wisely; it sets the tone for your year.
